A Weekend Getaway To Jogjakarta

Last week I had a little holiday in the weekend with my office collagues to Jogjakarta. It was a very nice short trip! I never missed Borobudur Temple and Malioboro street everytime i visit Jogjakarta. But this trip is different.

We were using night train Business Class when we were heading to Jogja.
The train wasn't that clean. :(

Breakfast with some meat in Soto Pak H. Sholeh.

Hahaha doesn't it scary?!!!

Another culinary time, lunch at Je Jamuran. Sooo delicious since i like mushroom!

First, I visit the Ullen Sentalu Museum in Kaliurang, the museum of royal treasure of Javanese. Actually the place is very nice with beautiful interior/exterior and very artsy. If you see the the front side, you will think what kind of place is this.. It's just like random woods and trees everywhere, truns out it's so beautiful. Also, there's a place that many little girls took traditional dance lesson. Too bad they forbid us to take picture. And because there's a lot of paintings and sculpture of Javanese royal family and God/Goddess from Javanese belief, the museum a little bit creepy.. hehehe.

Me in front of the museum, feels like lost in the woods :P

Beautiful Batik store in Ullen Sentalu Museum

There's a lot of story how a price became a king, a king who chose his mother as the first lady, how some kings brought the glory days for Java, also a story that every king in Java have to make (at least) one traditional dance that represent the culture and the society of Java.

Drank traditional drink (jamu). They said the drink makes us stay younger ;;)
But my favorite is the story of the lady that performed serimpi in Europe. She was a dream-lady for every guy because she's very pretty and talented. And since she's a part of royal family in Jogjakarta, she must be very classy that time. She dances beautifully, she danced in Europe and the gamelan music broadcasted through the radio, because there was no way to bring whole gamelan team accross the continent that time. She was married at age 30, the age that too old for marriage that time. And that was because she didn't agree with polygamy, that's why she didn't want to marry an aristrocrat (in that time, royal family used to have more than one mistress). She decided to marry a regular guy (I think he was a military guy) at age 30. She's still alive until now and lived in Bandung with her grandchildren. She's 80 something or 90 something now.

Ullen Sentalu's backyard
And my favorite painting is the painting of a mystic sacred dance that involved Ratu Pantai Selatan (The Queen of South Coast), Nyai Roro Kidul. The dance is like a story of mystic marriage. Because of that dance, the myth said that every king in Java used to married with Ratu Pantai Selatan. The dance was very mystic, with 9 dancers wearing Javanese marriage costume, nine represents nine lust and represent the compass heading (east, southeast, south, southwest, west, northwest, north, northeast), the dance can only be seen by some people (the royal family), and sometimes--they said--Ratu Pantai Selatan also dancing with the 9 women but only the King could see her. The painting was very coool! Ratu Pantai Selatan painted as a shadow. It was very artsy.
I also learn about batik philosophy, it was so cool. Now i'll be more picky everytime want to buy batik! LOL. Also a philosophy of Javanese marriage costume. The five black mark in the woman's head and five gold flower in the hair represent five pray times in Islam / five terms of being Moslem. That a woman should have faith and religious as a wife and a mother. The one mark in forehead, that means one eye to focus on her husband. The eyebrows that drawed like a deer's horn means a woman should energetic and active like deer. The three layers necklace of dragon means a woman should be strong and help her husband to get a glory. What a hard job being a wife! Hahahaha.

Prambanan temple as background.. Love it!

With the dancers (Rama, Shinta, Laksmana, Shinta's guardians)

At night, I watched the traditional ballet dance 'Ramayana' (an epic story from Mahabarata) in Prambanan. It was SOOOO COOOOOLLLL! Many people said it was boring, but I was curious how they danced it since I knew the story of Rama-Shinta. The best thing is, it was full moon, so they did outdoor performance with Prambanan Temple as the background. It was so cool and romantic. And it was raining! Hahahaha, they prepared well and gave us umbrella. I am not a person who understand with the philosophy of some dance moves, but I can feel it in my heart (well, in some segment i almost got sleep too!). Rama's and Laksmana's feet moved beautifully.

The Hanuman was arrested by Rahwana, and Rahwana planned to kill him by burning him!

The Hanuman rise from the fire and burned Rahwana's land.

I love the part when Rama hunted the deer, and the deer danced by a woman with bells in her feet. The dance moves was like so seductive, like represented a deer. Fast, tempting, seductive, but when you tried to catched deer, they would quickly run.
And my favorite part was when The Hanuman arrested by the Giant Rahwana and they burned him, but fire just made him stronger. The dancer danced energetically and jump accross the fire then burnt the hay. It was epic!

Rama & Laksmana successfully killed Rahwana

Shinta after being saved by the God of Fire to proved that she was saint
Finally Rama met Shinta and belived that Shinta was saint.

The couple finally reunited

And finally Rama met Shinta, but he didn't trust Shinta. He thought Shinta was no longer saint after being captured by Rahwana. The dance moves was really represent Rama's doubt but he still loves Shinta but he was angry that he couldn't trust her. So he asked Shinta to burn herself in the fire, if she was saint, she would not be die. And Shinta burned herself to the fire and saved by The God of Fire, that proved that she was saint. And then they got closer, like two people that had been seperated for long long time, they missed each other, then they met again and they still love each other. It was epic. It was beautiful.

Thanks Dishub and PT KAI, the train provides the electricity so I charge my gadget.

Turns out the economy class is better than the business class

Killing time with playing cards. God of gamblers! xD

Bring Uno Cards for your trip is a must!

Hello, Mr Farmer!

My friend got punished after loosing in Uno game

The kindergarten painting was reaaaal

Told you, it was a very nice trip with train, green scenery, rain falls, and books!

Beautiful scenery!!!

Since we were using economy class with air conditioner train, the train usually stop in (almost) every station. I love the trip! I could see many beautiful scenery of rice field, river, hills, and then stop for awhile just to feel the air and the breeze! And the best thing was... the rain was fall that day. Train, rain, green scenery, how can't i sleep during the trip!

It was my best weekend getaway. :)

We Are Not Afraid of Death, We Are Afraid to Leave Without Saying Goodbye

"We're not afraid to death. We are afraid to leave without saying goodbye."

Photo from: Flickr

A few days ago I heard a news from Grandma that my nanny when I was a kid passed away last month. Nobody told us when she passed away, Grandma knew when she visited her house in Sukabumi and when she asked about my nanny to the neighbors, they told her that Bibi (that's how I called her) has passed away last month. Grandma told Mum, and Mum told us a few days later after she was back from Sukabumi.

We are shocked and sad.

Nobody could believe when people they knew suddenly passed away. It's been a very very very long time never heard about her, never seen her, never try to visit her house when we're in Sukabumi. Last time I met her was high school I guess. She wasn't work for us anymore, she was just visited my house while she was in my town. And she met my first boyfriend, and she said he looked like some Indonesian soap opera actor hahaha.

There were very tough year for her. When one of her son passed away. The son who was ill that time because he fell down from tree, who gave her reason to leave my family. And we met her son, he couldn't sit, couldn't talk, even breathing was hard for him I guess. The son that she brought to our home once when I was a kid, sister usually fought with him because of some toys. God had plan, God took him. She was back to my family but she wasn't as strong as she used to. And she left again. And her other son worked for my dad, and he left my dad, and he tried to suicide. She was a widow, divorced from her husband. Can't believe how hard her life back then. And finally somebody told us that she became a traditional wedding singer in her village. I think she was happy. Grew old with her daughters and sons and grandchildren and didn't work as maid anymore. She successfully educated her daughters and sons became a worker, not a maid like her.

She taught me a lot. She was like my secondary parents at home. She took care of me and my sister. She was the one who taught me that "Don't think too much about small things". She helped my parents rise me. Suddenly I remember the song that she always sing, it wasn't dangdut music, it was religious music. I remember she asked if she can keep the cassette for herself or not, and my sister gave it to her. The lyrics was like "Sepohon kayu daunnya rimbun, lebat bunganya serta buahnya. Walaupun hidup seribu tahun kalau tak sembahyang apa gunanya? Walaupun hidup seribu tahun kalau tak sembahyang apa gunanya?" ("A leafy tree, with a lot of flowers and fruits. What's the purpose of living if you're not pray though you live for a thousand years?"). I will always keep that on my mind and my heart, Bik.

Some people said that it's better if people died because of illness, at least we are ready if someday they're gone. At least they are saying goodbye. At least we are saying goodbye.
She never say goodbye to us. That's why in my religion we should have to keep 'tali silaturahmi' to all people we know.

One day when I was a kid, I promised to her that I will give her a gift when I grown up and already have job someday. And now, this is the Someday. I don't get a chance to do my promise because she's already gone. I told my Mum about this and she said just give the gifts to her daughters and sons and grandchildren. Yes I will. And I pray for her, may God forgive all her sins, may God accepts all her pray, may God gives her the best place in heaven. Amen.

I also remember once she said "We shouldn't cry at the funeral. But I don't know why the tears always comes." Now I understand what she meant. Because no one saying goodbye when they are gone. Even saying goodbye is not enough. Because there're no "See you later" in the end of the phrase.

Be Kind, Even To Those Who Are Not

"Be kind, even to those who are not."
Photo taken from Tumblr

Got the quote from somewhere in Path, and damn love it. Then I remember those rude people, judging, ignoring, badmouthing behind your back, etc. Happened to me back then, and I think I was mature enough that time. Gue selalu bertanya "Apa yang salah sama gue? Why didn't they tell me and I'll explain why later? They don't even know what happened to me, what I've been through!" entah kenapa gue nggak ada perasaan "They did that because they were jealous" mungkin karena gue merasa kayaknya nggak ada yang bisa di iriin dari gue saat itu. Gue jadi orang yang nggak percaya diri, karena selalu bertanya "apakah gue menjijikan kalau kayak gini?" people sometimes doesn't realize what kind of damage that they've just made. Listen people, be careful when you accidentally hurt people, you never know what kind of damage you've just made to others. Apalagi kalau kita masih masa-masa pembentukan jati diri.

Yes, it's a skill. Sometimes I thought, if they need me one day, I'll refuse. But turns out, I can't act like that. I don't say that I'm a good person, tapi gue kadang gampang kasian dengan orang lain ketika gue mencoba memposisikan sebagai mereka.

One day, gue menjadi tokoh antagonisnya. Gue pun berlaku seperti those rude people ke pacar gue. You know those quotes from We Heart It or Tumblr that sounds like "My attitude depends on how you treat me." I prepared myself for that, but my boyfriend is really really really a nice and kind and good person, he never treat me bad after all. I felt so embarassed to him. And since then he taught me indirectly that 'never stop being kind even to those who are not, if there still good things in their heart, they must be feel so bad and embarassed that they ever treat us like shit.'

Besides, doesn't it feel better when you're smile and kind to people? I mean, can't you feel it in your deepest heart how goooood it is? So I think, be kind for your health, for your inner peace, even to those who are not.

Lebaran 2012

Hi readers,
Dengan ini saya mengucapkan mohon maaf lahir & batin ya jikalau post-post disini kurang mengenakkan. Dan bagi yang muslim, Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri, semoga ibadah Ramadhan kita diterima Allah SWT. :)

Nggak mau ganti?" -____-

Sedikit Curhatan Pengguna Transportasi Umum

Nggak liat udah padat gini?!!”

Terus keneknya ngomong sama supirnya, “Tahan ya rem-nya! Kalo nggak kebalik ini!” Kebayang nggak sih ngerinya?! Spontan semua penumpang panik lah pada baca-baca doa! Untung nggak kebalik jadinya! Oh ya, temen saya ini juga pernah loh jadi korban pan*atnya digesek-gesek sama bapak-bapak mesum menjijikan!

Naik busway? Jujur aja saya capek nungguinnya (dan naik tangga penyeberangannya sih hehehe). Terutama koridor IX, lamaaa banget!

What do you expect?

Got A News Flash

Hey, its been a while!
What am I doing these days? Here, today I just wake up at 6 then I checked my Bakery Story, Fashion City, Tiny Tower and Snoopy's Fair. Damn, I'm a gamer now! (thanks to Steve Jobs that makes a very usefull device such as iPod Touch/iPhone and cool operating system with outstanding GUI). Now I'm sitting on my bed with my laptop on my thigh, listening to my friend's soundcloud (covering Dream A Little Dream Of Me song), writing blog like a writer (or like Meg Ryan on You've Got Mail).

Actually I have plenty things (the informative one, not the trashy one) to post. But I changed my broadband card and too bad, eventhough it's really fast for downloading, it's not good for uploading. So I can't upload some pictures, that's decrease my mood for blogging.
I also have plenty project to published, creative blogging and a photo project. But... yes, back to the story of my new internet broadband card. It will be a surprise on 2012 ;)

In the end of 2011, maybe this is the busiest year-end ever. I got a few college project to finished before and after new year. 5th semester means more resposibilities and less sleeping time. In this semester, I realize how much I love Windows OS. I was dying for Mac OS since 9th grades, but if I was using it right now it might makes me stressed out. No, I still love Apple, I always looovvveeeeee their GUI and their hardware component (but I hate the fact that all their device have to connected to iTunes everytime we want to synchronize the files. Well, thanks Papa Jobs for making Cloud computing --iCloud-- compatible in your devices!).
I got 3 lab in this semester. Operating System, Web Programming and Human-Computer Interaction. And 2 of them is like a hell. In OS lab, we're using OpenSuse (Linux), so I gotta use VMWare Player with Knoppix in it to practice and doing some homework (pssstt... I can use Leopard OS in VMWare, I'll write about it later). In Web Programming, we're using JSP as the programming laguange, Tomcatt for the server and Microsoft Access for databases. The worst thing, to connect Tomcatt to your computer you have to know your computer bit and blah...blah...blah.... everything must be connected to each other! ZZZZZZ. And for WebProg final project, we have to make a social network site like facebook. Yes, really...really...close to facebook. DAMN!!!
In this end of 2011, R is gonna have a BIG oral test too (aduh sidang itu bahasa inggrisnya apa yah hahaha) for his IS Minor Project. Aaaa I wish he'll have tons of luck that day!

In 2012 I have to be more productive. More short story and articles to send to some Magazine, more works, more learn, more coding (hell nooooo >.<), more creative blogging, more personal project. Next semester I will have an internship program, I might be work in my daddy's office or apply to R's mother's office. Just wish me luck!
For the first time I have "new year's wishes", I wish I will be more productive (and make money haha) and I wish my parents let me drive so it makes me easier to jump from place to place without spend much time to wait public transportation or standing in a bus that full with people. I don't hate using public transportation, I just hate to take public transportation when I got to bring laptop and raining. I'm only 30 something kilograms (you wanna scream right now when read this?), sometimes its just too heavy to carried for me. Doesn't mean I don't want to fight for it, it just... different when you were in college back then, mom dad. When you were in college, Jakarta's traffic wasn't like this and when you were in college, you don't have to bring laptop.
Well, 2012 gotta be MORE PRODUCTIVE! ;)

Dancing All Night Long With The French

Finally!!! I watched Tahiti 80 LIVE!

I couldn't stop singing and dancing in 3-4 hours!

And.... Here it is! Performance yang paling ditunggu-tunggu: TAHITI 80! Check soundnya lamaaaaaa banget! Nggak jarang dia ngomong "Nuhun" setiap akhir lagu dan asked "are you having a good time?" padahal denger-denger mereka ini bahasa inggrisnya pas-pasan semua. Xavier juga menyuruh penonton untuk feel free to dance and sing a long. Kurang lebih 2 jam Tahiti 80 menghibur, mereka membawakan lagu-lagu dari album lama dan baru, antara lain: Better Days Will Come, 1000 Times, Big Day, Antonelli, dan dari album barunya adalah Defender, Darlin', The Past Present And Possible dan Easy. Seperti biasa, mereka pura-pura turun panggung dan ketika muncul lagi Xavier ngomong, "This song is for all the girls here. Boys, don't be jealous!" yepppp mereka memainkan Something About You Girl!

Sesekali Xavier bilang, "What? Ooo.. Ooo..? Aaa.. Aaaa..? (dengan nada lagu Heartbeat) I don't know what's that" atau "Heartbreak? We don't have a song named Heartbreak" hahahaha. And finally........ di puncak acara akhirnya mereka memainkan lagu yang terselip nada "Ooo... Oo... Aaaa.. Aaa..." tersebut! Iyaaaaaaaappppp it's HEARTBEAT!!! Can you feel my heartbeat when I'm close to you? Aaa... Aaa... I'll never find another way to say I love you more each daaaay" sembari Heartbeat yang mau selesai, instrument drum masih bermain, Xavier pun memperkenalkan bandnya.

(sumpah, it sounds sooo cuteee) apalagi cara ngomong Raphael (drum) "This guy... is weird. He loves his foot... eaten by little fishes." LOL! Maka, berakhirlah perform mereka malam itu. One of best gig I ever watched. Nggak nyesel bela-belain ke Bandung, pulang pagi, diguyur hujan. Semua terbayar. See you next gig, Tahiti 80!

Here it is, I take it from Tahiti 80's blog:

Lucu banget ini mereka ke Superindo! hahahah. Kenapa nggak alfamart/indomaret sekalian :P

Hi

Enjoying life in bandung.

Temperature is great for some European dudes such like us. It’s warm but not so humid. Anyway, it’s great to have some time off to visit the city, to feel the viiiiiibe. It’s a 48hr journey, we might as well have fun.

Tonite is the night.

we’ll be performing on the campus. The sound-system is great according to our FOH angyneer. The promoters have hired a weather-guru to prevent the rain from falling, let’s keep our fingers crossed: everything’s gonna be just fine!

So glad to hear that they enjoyed their time in Indonesia. Datang lagi yaa kapan-kapan! ;)

Bekasi-Slipi Dua Hari Yang Lalu

Malu-maluin? Yah, memang. Gue pasti malu banget kalo jadi dia. Pas mau kasih uangnya, gue merhatiin, gue pikir matanya sebelah ditutup untuk gaya gitu. Tapi ternyata dia nutupin tumor besar di matanya. Pas semua uang sudah terkumpul, dia nyiumin uangnya terus ngomong Alhamdulillah dan sebagainya gitu. Gue jadi salut sama dia.

Amin :')

"Pride and Prejudice" Quotes

I read on DVD's box, it's Pride & Prejudice, written:

"Sometimes the last person on earth you want to be with is the person you can't be without."

Well, then I think.... no, I wanna be with the person who I want to be with. And I hope... I know you know.
